Electricity - "Transmission line"

Electricity is transmitted through transmission lines at very high voltage (as high as 500kV) so as to reduce energy loss over long distance transmission due to resistance. At the substations, the voltage is stepped down by transformers to a lower level (115V-230V) before being distributed to the users.
